Primary Use (Veterinary Off-Label, Under Prescription Only)
May be prescribed by a veterinarian for skin conditions in dogs and cats where fungal infection, bacterial infection, and inflammation are present together — for example, infected dermatitis, otitis externa (outer ear skin), or interdigital skin infections — strictly when directed and dosed by a veterinarian.
Dosage Guidelines
- Use only exactly as directed by your veterinarian — do not self-dose.
- General pattern typically involves applying a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, for a short course as directed.
- Clean and dry the area before application.
- Do not apply to large areas of skin or use for longer than your veterinarian's specified course.
Key Contraindications
Do not use unless directed by a veterinarian, and never if any of the following apply:
- Known allergy to neomycin, clotrimazole, or any corticosteroid.
- Open wounds, deep cuts, or puncture wounds.
- Near the eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.
- In pregnant or lactating animals, unless specifically advised by a veterinarian.
- On true viral skin infections (such as herpetic lesions) — the corticosteroid component can worsen these by suppressing local immune response.
Common Side Effects
- Skin irritation, redness, or burning at the application site.
- Thinning of skin with prolonged use, due to the steroid component.
- Possible systemic corticosteroid effects if used over large areas or for extended periods (e.g., increased thirst, urination, or appetite).
- Possible allergic reaction — stop use and contact your vet immediately if swelling or rash worsens.
Storage Requirements: Store in a cool, dry place. For external use only. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
